  • 2. Do I have to take Beginner 1 (level 1) course if I don’t know Vietnamese tones and Alphabet but know a little bit of Vietnamese?
    If you don’t know Vietnamese tones and the alphabet, the Beginner course is a great starting point for you and will provide a solid foundation to continue with higher levels
  • 9. What happens if I have to miss a class during the program?
    If you are absent due to illness or an emergency, please notify us in advance. You are welcome to join other group classes in the same week to make up (if there are same-level classes available in that program). Or you can watch the recording to catch up, and the teacher will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have in the next class
  • 5. What is the curriculum, and what do we learn at each level?
    Curriculum: Beginner Level (Level 1 & Level 2), Pre-Intermediate Level (Level 3 & Level 4), Intermediate Level (Level 5 & Level 6), Advanced Level (Level 7 & Level 8). In Level 1, Alphabet & Tones, Basic Greetings, Nationality & Language, Numbers & Money Family, Ordering Vietnamese food and drinks. Level 2 Occupations & Common Places, Telling time, Time expressions, Extended Family, Grocery Shopping, Feelings/Emotions Level 3 Prepositions of place, Clothes & Shopping, Means of transportation, Asking and giving Directions, and Hotel & Restaurant Reservation / Travel Level 4 Hobbies (Sports & Entertainment), Weather, Home and housework, Health, and Appearance & Personalities Level 5+, we will use Books and additional authentic resources provided by Miss Hảo to enhance learning and fluency.
  • 7. Do you offer group classes for Intermediate or more Advanced levels?
    Yes! After completing Level 4 group classes, we will offer Level 5+ (Intermediate level) for all committed students, heritage learners, or those ready to take their Vietnamese skills to the next level. This 3-month immersive course provides a comprehensive and challenging curriculum to help students build fluency and confidence. Classes will meet for 1.5 hours weekly over three consecutive months, using the Intermediate Vietnamese book provided by Miss Hảo, which includes listening audio files. In addition to structured lessons, we will dedicate time to practicing Vietnamese speaking and listening skills throughout the course. As students progress, we will transition into Advanced-level learning for greater mastery. Together, we will build a supportive Vietnamese Club community where members can practice and grow together.
  • 1. Is the Beginner 1 (Level 1) Vietnamese course suitable for people with no prior learning background or those who know a little Vietnamese but cannot read or write?
    Yes, our Level 1 course is beginner-friendly and designed for people with little to no prior background in Vietnamese (including heritage learners)
  • 3. I’ve taken Vietnamese formally. Can I skip a level?
    If you’ve taken Vietnamese formally, you may be eligible to skip a level. Please contact us to discuss your background and take a placement test to ensure the right fit for your skills! Email us at info@lotusvietnameselanguage.com for more details.
  • 10. What is the difference between Child/Teen Curriculum vs. Adult Curriculum?
    Child/Teen Curriculum is designed for students aged 6 - 17 yrs old Adult Curriculum is designed for students 18 years old and above. Even if you think your Vietnamese knowledge is at an elementary level, if you’re over 18, you belong to the Adult Curriculum
  • 8. How often do you offer classes?
    We offer courses year-round, with higher-level courses available based on interest. Please check our website regularly or email us with your questions for the most up-to-date information about our courses
  • 6. What is the Class Structure?
    Lessons are taught through Zoom. Materials are shared via Google Classroom (including Quizlet, Games, and other resources) The maximum number of students is 7 Students will meet once a week for a 1-hour session, continuing for 7 or more consecutive weeks. The total number of weeks depends on the specific level they are enrolled in.
  • 1. Who are private lessons mostly for?
    Our Adult Curriculum private lessons are for individuals who are too advanced to join group classes, feel they do not perform well in a group setting, plan to travel to Vietnam soon, or need to learn Vietnamese for work or other specific purposes. Currently, our private lessons are mostly for the Child/Teen Curriculum. We are working hard to design Children's Group Classes, which we hope to launch in 2025 : )
  • 2. What is the difference between Child/Teen Curriculum vs. Adult Curriculum?
    Child/Teen Curriculum is designed for students aged 8-17. Adult Curriculum is designed for students 18 years old and above. Even if you think your Vietnamese knowledge is at an elementary level, if you’re over 18, you belong to the Adult Curriculum
